Man jailed for yawning

A man was jailed for 3 weeks because he yawned too loudly during a court sentencing of his cousin who was on trial for a drug offense, in which he was just a spectator. Incredible, what goes on these days.

Clifton Williams, 33, of Richton Park, was sentenced to jail after Judge Daniel Rozak found him “guilty of contempt of court.” Williams was initially jailed for 6 months, but the judge ordered him released after 3 weeks.

The judge did have the courtesy to tell Williams that he wasn’t jailed for yawning, but for making a sound “that was offensive to the court” while “raising his hands” at the same time.

Now if yawning can get you in trouble, you have to wonder, what’s next?
