Another theory about the Tunguska Event
Posted on June 2nd, 2009 No commentsThe Tunguska Event was a huge explosion that occured on June 30, 1908 in a remote part of Siberia, that flattened about 2100 sq kilometers of forest, or roughly 830 sq miles., and is widely believed to be a meteorite airburst which exploded several miles above ground.
The force of the blast is estimated to be around 5.o on the Richter scale, and equivalent to 10-15 megatons of TNT (or 1000 times more powerful than the Hiroshima bomb). Luckily no one was killed because the blast happened in an uninhabited area.
But mystery still surrounds the event right until today. Some speculate that the Tunguska Event was a natural release of gas from within the earth, others a natural H bomb or secret military experiment.
