Although it shows just a desert, a piece of rock in the center of the photo appears to have the appearance of eye sockets and a ‘nose.’ Take a look:

The photo was taken by a panoramic NASA camera known as Spirit.

Frankly to me, this is most likely just an odd boulder and not an alien skull. But you be the judge.
