This is cruelty to animals
Posted on January 31st, 2010 No commentsAll in the name of terrorism security, live pigs are being blown up in experiments to “test the effects of bomb blasts on victims.” 18 pigs were placed near a bomb, about 3 feet away and wrapped in Kevlar blankets, and to top it up, tubes were inserted into their blood vessels and bladders, and their spleens were removed! Kangaroo tries to drown a man and his dog
Posted on December 1st, 2009 No commentsA kangaroo tried to drown a man after he tried to save his pet dog that was being attacked by the kangaroo. So when we have killer rabbits, now we have killer kangaroos.
Chris Rickard, 49, suffered a deep gash on his forehead and abdomen, as well as cuts and scratches on his chest in the 9 AM attackHe was walking his pet dog, Rocky near his home farm which had a dam nearby, when they startled a sleeping kangaroo. Rocky chased the kangaroo and the kangaroo grabbed the dog and held it underwater for 20 seconds in the dam’s waters. Imagine that! Read the rest of this entry »

This massive starling swarm is really startling!

Killer rabbits kill snakes
Posted on September 20th, 2009 3 commentsThink rabbits are cute and cuddly? Think again. Wild rabbits have been found to have been killing snakes in Cairns, Australia.
Armando Del Manso was wondering what creature was killing snakes which turned up dead on his lawn, each morning, for weeks. The snakes had been viciously bitten to death, and he thought it was his dog that was responsible.
But he was surprised to see a pair of wild rabbits attacking a snake one Tuesday night, easily killing the snake in minutes. Read the rest of this entry »

Isopods – Tongue eating fish parasites
Posted on September 13th, 2009 2 commentsThis is one nasty creature – It burrows into fish and eats out their tongue and then takes its place. Called isopods, they are crustaceans with seven pairs of legs and some species can be half a meter long (50 cm)! Most species are just about 1 inch long though (fortunately).
Fishermen near the island of Minquiers, near Jersey, one of the Channel Islands, found an isopod inside a weaver fish.

Dog who thinks he is a cat
Posted on August 29th, 2009 No commentsWe had a case of a duck who thinks he is a dog. Now we have a case of a dog who thinks he is a cat!
Meet Chippy, the dog who thinks he is a cat after living with cats all his life. Chippy is an old Jack Russell dog who has apparently been living with about 40 cats from a home and rescued recently, by a pet care charity.
Chippy can hardly bark, and sleeps with a female cat named Annie, who is very protective of him, and uses a cat litter tray.He also probably ate rats which the cats brought back from hunting (or hunted them himself). Read the rest of this entry »

A frog marriage
Posted on July 27th, 2009 No commentsI used to recall fairy tales about a princess kissing a frog and turning it into a prince. Well, what happens when BOTH the prince and princess are….er frogs? Well, check out these pics of a frog marriage made in….where else, but India.
The marriage between Ram and Sita in a village near Kolkata was arranged supposedly to bring back monsoon rains which have gone missing with all that wonky weather we all now have (worldwide in fact)….
Ok, I now pronounce you husband and wife….the groom may now kiss the bride….

Stripeless white tiger
Posted on July 14th, 2009 No commentsWhite tigers. You might have seen them in circuses and thought they were freaks of nature, but really, they are just a rare form of tiger, and when you have one without stripes, it can’t get rarer than that.
A white Bengal tiger was recently born without any stripes in South Africa. The 6 month old cub named Fareeda, is the offspring of 2 white Bengal tigers. I used to think white Bengal tigers were albino but actually they used to naturally occur in northern India, although still very rare at that. Most of the white tigers have been carefully inbred to preserve the line. Read the rest of this entry »

Mutant piglet
Posted on June 28th, 2009 No commentsA mutant piglet born in Thailand to a grocery shop owner and which died shortly after birth, has been viewed by some as the incarnation of the Hindu god Ganesha, an elephant headed deity of the Hindu religion.
The piglet was born with a “trunk” and protruding eyes, while also being white in color, a striking difference compared to all the other regular piglets. Read the rest of this entry »

Boy kept alive by stray cats
Posted on June 18th, 2009 No commentsA missing boy in Misiones, Argentina, was found alive and well, but the strange thing is that he seemed to be kept alive by stray cats who all grouped around him and licked him, and also fed him scraps of food!
This reminds me of Jungle Book, by Rudyard Kipling. It was a collection of stories written by him in 1894 about a boy brought up by wolves in the wild.
