Mummified body of woman found in apartment

An old woman’s mummified body was found in her apartment in Moscow, 4 months after she died. The woman was aged 70 and she lived alone. It is likely the cold weather helped preserve her body.

According to Moscow police, this is not the first time something like this happened. In 2007, the mummified body of a man was found in a sitting position in his apartment kitchen in the city of Tula, central Russia. He had been dead for 6 years in a sitting position no less, and was only found because authorities were making their rounds to collect payment from those who did not pay their utility bills for a long time. I guess 6 years of not paying the electricity bills would certainly be a large amount, if the electicity was still on in his apartment at the time of death.

The dead man was identified as Vladimir Ledenev, and police decided not to investigate further because they found no evidence that he died a violent death.

I think such is the symptom of society today that many ignore their neighbors and when this is widespread like today, such cases will probably occur again. Yikes!
